Apps Crashing on Pixel Android 16 [Fixed]
A slew of complaints started pouring in across numerous social media channels, wherein users have voiced their concern regarding various apps crashing on their Pixel device running the latest Android 16 build. Some of the apps that are reportedly crashing include Shopify, Alexa, ExpressVPN, Google Meet, Banking Apps, and Google Messages & Sheets.
As far as the specific OS version goes, the issue mostly revolves around Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2. After doing some debugging, we found out the culprit was the latest Google Play Services beta, version 26.04.33 (260400-861456685), with its network stack currently being bugged. To be more specific, we went through the logs and pinpointed the issue to: java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to retrieve the NetworkSecurityPolicy associated with the TrustManager .
However, this issue doesn’t seem to be impacting all Pixel devices, as mine has the same version of Play Services, but all the apps are working along the expected lines. Anyways, for the affected users, we do have a bunch of workarounds that will help you address this problem. So without any further ado, let’s check them out.
- Fix Apps Crashing on Pixel Android 16 Switch to Stable Play Services Uninstall Updates to Play Service METHOD 1: Via Settings Menu METHOD 2: Via Play Store
Fix Apps Crashing on Pixel Android 16
Given here are three different fixes that will help you out. It is recommended that you try out each of the below-mentioned workarounds and then see which one spells out success. So with that in mind, let’s get started.
Switch to Stable Play Services
Whilew you would have enrolled yourself in the beta version of Play Services to test out new and unreleased features, however, in its current state, it is bugged with an issue or two. Therefore, it is recommended to switch over to its stable build, atleast for now. To do so, head over to this page and click on Leave a Program. Then wait for some time, and you’ll get the stable version of Play Services that you can download from the Play Store [in most cases, the update gets downloaded automatically, so you don’t even have to do so].

Uninstall Updates to Play Service
Since the latest version of Play Services is the culprit, you can downgrade it to its earlier stable beta build. Here’s how it can be done:
METHOD 1: Via Settings Menu
- Head over to Settings > Apps > All Apps > Google Play Services.
- After that, tap on the overflow icon and select Uninstall Updates.
- Again, tap on Uninstall Updates in the confirmation dialog box.
METHOD 2: Via Play Store
Head over to Play Services on the Play Store and click Remove Updates > Remove in the confirmation prompt.

That’s it. These were the two different methods that will help you fix the apps crashing issue on your Pixel device running the latest Android 16. As far as the official stance on this matter is concerned, the developers are aware of this issue, but they haven’t given out any ETA for the rollout of a fix. As and when that happens, we will update this guide accordingly. In the meantime, the aforementioned workarounds are your best bet.
