Cannot Close Payoneer Account JSON Issue [Fixed]

Not being able to close the Payoneer account due to the “This endpoint requires that the body of all requests be formatted as JSON. The request was not correctly formatted.” error? This guide has you covered. Follow along for the fix.

The recent Pixel 6A battery fiasco rewarded us with three options: either get a free battery replacement, get $100 cash, or $150 Google Store credits. Since there’s no plan of mine to buy any Pixel device in this time frame and the battery test results also came out just fine, I straightaway opted for that $100 [truth be told, this is what I was looking for from the start!].

When I forwarded my selection to Google, they responded with an email informing me that I need to create a Payoneer account. Well, I haven’t heard about this company to date, so how can I be willing to share my bank account details with them?

Turned out, there was no other way out [I assumed that since I am already receiving monthly payments from Google across both my website and YouTube via wire transfer directly to my bank account, I might receive this amount in a similar manner. Or they might opt for PayPal. Unfortunately, Payoneer was the only available option .

So I used my secondary bank account, which I always use for these kinds of things. A month later, I finally got this amount [though I had to ping them a couple of times]. Now came the next stage: to close my Payoneer account. But why is the a need for that? Well, I was aware that these payment platforms do charge annual fees, and the same was the case with this platform as well.

Payoneer charges an “annual account fee” of $29.95 to those accounts that receive less than $2,000 through Payoneer in any consecutive 12-month period. It was quite obvious that I am not going to receive $2K within the next year, so closing it was the only logical option.

Unfortunately, that proved to be easier said than done. Whenever I tried closing my Payoneer account, I was greeted with the “This endpoint requires that the body of all requests be formatted as JSON. The request was not correctly formatted.” If you are also getting bugged by this issue, then this guide will show you how to get it rectified. Follow along.

In order to rectify this issue, you’ll have to use a different web browser, such as Google Chrome [for once, Chrome really came in handy!]. So switch over to this browser from Google and retry closing your Payoneer account; this time, you won’t get the JSON issue.
