Galaxy Watch 4/5/6/7 Stuck in Demo Mode: How to Fix
In this guide, we will show you the steps to fix the issue of the Galaxy Watch 4/5/6/7 being stuck in Demo Mode. Retail Mode, also known as Demo Mode, is usually enabled on those devices that are placed in stores and showrooms. This mode allows the visiting users to have a look at most of the watch’s features without the need to log in.

However, some features are restricted in this mode, such as the ability to tweak certain settings of the watch or install apps on it. In short, these watches should be in store and not in the hands of customers. But in recent times, I have seen these atches in the hands of the customers who have said that they had purchased a normal watch but had been unintentionally [or otherwise] delivered these watches to them.

As a result of this, they aren’t able to connect these watches to their phones or even charge them beyond 50%. Usually, these demo watches’ serial number ends with X, such as SM-R920X for the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. With that said, if you have also got one of these Demo Mode Galaxy Watches, such as the 4/5/6/7 series, then this guide will make you aware of the steps to get out of this mode once and for all. Follow along.

Before starting, please take a complete device backup. Droidwin and its members wouldn’t be held responsible in case of a thermonuclear war, your alarm doesn’t wake you up, or if anything happens to your device, and data by performing the below steps.
Using a Code
Benefit: Easiest and shortest of them all
Drawback: Might not be applicable across all variants of the watch
- Open the red settings app and type the code 5444.
- Scroll down and turn off ‘Deactivate Retail Mode’.
Via Gesture Tweak
Benefit: It is much shorter and easier to carry out.
Drawback: The success rate of this tweak isn't high.
- Swipe up to bring up the Quick Settings tiles.
- After that, tap on the Settings icon at the top.
- Now, keep on holding the left side of the screen.
- Then tap 6-7 times on the right side of the screen.
- You’ll now enter a Settings menu. Tap on Disconnect and Reset.
- Your watch will undergo a reset, after which, it will leave Demo Mode.
By Flashing the Firmware
Benefit: This comes with a higher success rate than its counterpart, granted you carry out the steps correctly.
Drawback: This is the lengthier and complicated of the two approaches.
- Download the firmware for your watch and extract it onto your PC. Likewise, download and extract NetOdin on your PC.
- Now boot the watch into bootmod. To do this, hold down both buttons for 7-9 seconds until the ‘Rebooting…’ message appears, then immediately press the Upper button 2 times.
- In the menu that appears, select “Download (Wireless)” using the top key and confirm the selection with a long press of that key.
- The Wireless-downloading menu should now appear. By default, it will be WPS mode; change it to AP mode by double-clicking the upper button.
- The watch will now create a WiFi access point; you need to connect to it.
- For that, open NetOdin and wait a couple of seconds until the watch’s IP address appears at the top left.
- Then click on the AP button in the Netodin and select the extracted firmware file.
- Now click Start and wait for the flashing to finish [this might take around half an hour in some instances.]
- Once done, the watch will automatically reboot, and you’ll see the PASS message in NetOdin.
