How to Bypass Xiaomi HyperOS Bootloader Unlock Requirement!

In this guide, we will show you the steps to bypass Xiaomi’s HyperOS Bootloader Unlock requirement. Xiaomi has recently surprised everyone by ditching its evergreen MIUI with the new in-house HyperOS. The new underlying OS skin is a refined and enhanced version of MIUI. It offers some key improvements in performance, AI, connectivity, and security [though you wouldn’t find any major differences in the UI/UX when compared with its predecessor].

However, for the tech enthusiasts, things couldn’t have got any worse. The Chinese OEM has made it extremely difficult to unlock the bootloader on its device running the latest HyperOS by implementing some weird rules that you’ll have to checkmark beforehand . These include the likes of reaching community level 5 and a requirement for a passport as well as your bank account details for verification!

While the latter two are yet to be officially announced, the process of reaching community level 5 is in itself quite a challenging task and would end up taking ages. Fortunately, a developer has found a nifty workaround using which you could bypass Xiaomi’s HyperOS Bootloader Unlock requirement. And in this guide, we will make you aware of that tweak. So without further ado, let’s get started.

UPDATE: We have shared 4 methods below. Out of which, only Method 3 will work on HyperOS 2 Android 15 ; the rest will only work on HyperOS 1 Android 14.

How to Bypass Xiaomi’s HyperOS Bootloader Unlock Requirement!

Bypass Xiaomi HyperOS Bootloader Unlock - 1

While the below process comes with the obvious drawbacks of data wipe and warranty being nullified, but apart from that, there might be some unforeseen issues as well, because we are using a partially unofficial method to get the job done. So proceed ahead at your own risk. Droidwin and its members wouldn’t be held responsible in case of a thermonuclear war, your alarm doesn’t wake you up, or if anything happens to your device and data by performing these steps.

NOTE: Both the bypass methods given below will only work for China devices that have been updated from MIUI to HyperOS. It will not work on non-Chinese devices or Chinese devices running HyperOS out of the box. Keeping that in mind, let’s get started.

METHOD 1: Using HyperSploit [Only HyperOS 1]

YouTube video - 2

Requirements

  1. This method will only work on HyperOS 1 [Android 14], not on HyperOS 2 [Android 15].
  2. Xiaomi must not have forced your account or device to go through the qualification.
  3. A valid SIM card must be inserted with access to the internet.
  4. The device should be running an official version of HyperOS.
  5. Do note that this tool will only bypass all the HyperOS restrictions; you still have to comply with MIUI’s restrictions [waiting for 168 hours – well, if you use my Mi Unlock tool, then the bootloader will be unlocked within 3 seconds].
  6. Moreover, each Xiaomi account can only unlock 1 phone per month and 3 phones per year.

Instructions

  1. Add your Mi Account as well as your Google account to your device.
  2. Then enable Find My Device from the Settings menu.
  3. Head over to Settings > About Phone > Tap on OS version 7 times.
  4. Then go to Additional Settings > Developer Options > Enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking.
  5. Now turn off WiFi and enable Carrier Data.
  6. Next up, download the HyperSploit on your PC.
  7. Then connect your Xiaomi device to your PC and run the HyperSploit.
  8. It will ask if your device is from the China Mainland, type N.
  9. Then go to Settings > Developer Options > Open Mi Unlock Status > Tap on Add account and Device.
  10. It will check for the Settings app and ask you to downgrade to an unpatched Settings version. Type Y.
  11. Again, go to Settings > Developer Options > Open Mi Unlock Status > Tap on Add account and Device.
  12. This time, you should get the success message. So boot your device to Fastboot Mode.
  13. Then download this version of Mi Unlock Tool and extract it onto your PC.
  14. Now, launch the tool and sign in to your account. Then click on Unlock.
  15. Now boot the device to the OS and click Send. You’ll now get an OTP on your device.
  16. First off, type in the Captcha and hit Submit. Then, input the OTP that you have got.
  17. Once again boot your device to the Fastboot Mode and make sure your device is shown in the tool.
  18. Finally, hit Unlock. Your Xiaomi device’s bootloader running HyperOS will be unlocked within 3 seconds!

Fix Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_USER_RESTRICTED]

If you are getting the Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_USER_RESTRICTED: Install canceled by user] error message, then here’s how you can fix it:

  1. To begin with, enable Developer Options on your device.
  2. Go there and enable USB Debugging (Security Settings).
  3. Once that is done, tap on Reset to default values 5 times. Reference Image
  4. You should now see the’ Turn on system optimization’.
  5. So, disable this feature and then check out the results.

METHOD 2 [Might Work on HyperOS 2]

You should carry out the below steps via Mobile Data. This tweak will not bypass the 168 Hours waiting time, it will just give you the permission to unlock the bootloader. After this, you’ll have to use the Mi Unlock Tool to unlock the bootloader.

Setup

Make sure to carry out all the steps listed below. Missing any one of them will straightaway result in your device’s bootloader unlocking to fail.

  1. Add your Mi Account as well as your Google account to your device.
  2. Then enable Find My Device from the Settings menu.
  3. Turn off WiFi and enable Carrier Data. Make sure a working SIM card is inserted in your device.
  4. Next up, head over to Settings > About Phone > Tap on OS version 7 times.
  5. Then go to Additional Settings > Developer Options > Enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking.

Bootloader Unlocking Steps

  1. Download the latest Xiaomi Community app .
  2. Launch it and log in using the same MI account.
  3. Open the Community app at 09:20:00 PM [IST]
  4. Go to the Bootloader Unlock option.
  5. Click on Apply for unlocking at 09:29:59 PM [IST].
  6. When you see the quota limit reached, instantly open the Developer Settings and try to add your Mi Account.
  7. You’ll get a pop-up SMS: Add successfully. Once that happens, you can now try to unlock via MI Unlock Tool .
  8. NOTE: If you are not able to bypass the Quota Limit Reached message, then check out the third method. It is specifically made for this issue.

METHOD 3 [Works on HyperOS 2]

Refer to the below guide for the detailed step-by-step instructions.

How to Unlock Bootloader on Xiaomi HyperOS 2 Android 15

Given below are the shorter steps for those who are already aware of this tweak [if you aren’t, then please check out the above guide only].

This method will allow you to bypass the Quota Limit Reached issue; however, you’ll still have to unlock the bootloader using Mi Unlock Tool. Moreover, this method works across both Hyper OS 1 [Android 14] and 2 [Android 15].

NOTE: You will have to carry out these steps 30 minutes before 12:00 AM Beijing Time/9:30 PM IST [the later the better]. So, if you are living in India, then start this process at 9:00 PM or later. This is because we need to capture a few cookies which usually expire after 30 minutes…

Requirements

  • Download and extract the Avoid Quota Limit Reached script on your PC. [Credits: XDA Senior Member Nobeta]
  • Then download and install Python (make sure to checkmark Add Python to Path).
  • Also, install Firefox and the Cookie Editor add-on .
  • Likewise, have the Chrome browser up and running.
  • Xiaomi must not have forced your account or device to go through the qualification.
  • A valid SIM card must be inserted with access to the internet.
  • The device should be running an official version of HyperOS.
  • Do note that this tool will only bypass all the HyperOS restrictions; you still have to comply with MIUI’s restrictions [waiting for 168 hours].
  • Moreover, each Xiaomi account can only unlock 1 phone per month and 3 phones per year.

Setup

Unlocking Instructions

  1. Get the cookies a short while before running the script (30 minutes maximum). Cookies are your session time on the website and expire the same as your session. The steps for getting cookies can be done on your mobile or PC.
  2. Open Firefox and log in with the account linked to the mobile you want to unlock using link 1 or link 2 . It doesn’t matter which one you use; use one of the two. If you are unable to access the link, then use a VPN and change the region to the USA.
  3. Open the Cookie Editor add-on, search for “new” and expand the “new_bbs_serviceToken” section. Copy the token that appears in the Value section and paste it in positions 1 and 3 (deleting the numbers 1 and 3) of the token.txt file.
  4. Launch Chrome and log in as before, using link1 or link2. Now enter the following URL: javascript:(function(){var token=document.cookie.match(/popRunToken=([^;]+)/);if(token){prompt(“Copy the token:”, token[1]);}else{alert(“Token not found”);}})()
  5. Copy the token it gives you and paste it in positions 2 and 4 (deleting the numbers 2 and 4) of the token.txt file.
  6. Run Script.py, enter 1, and press Enter. Without closing the previous window, run Script.py again and enter 2. Likewise, enter 3 in the third script, and 4 in the fourth script. Each of these scripts will be running with its own timeshifts [the four timeshift values are given in the text file].
  7. Now just wait until 00:00 Chinese time, and the script will carry out its intended task automatically.
  8. Once that happens, go to Settings,» Advanced Settings » For Developers » Mi Unlock Status » Link Account to Device. Once done, you may now unlock the device using Mi_Unlock .
  9. If that fails: Settings » My Account » Sign out of Account » then restart the device. After restarting: Settings » Advanced Settings » For Developers » Mi Unlock Status » Link Account to Device. Then try unlocking with Mi_Unlock .

METHOD 4 [Only HyperOS 1]

Requirements

First and foremost, your device as well as the Xiaomi account need to check the below-listed prerequisites beforehand.

  • A valid device: An unbanned* Xiaomi, Redmi, or POCO device. Your device is running the official version of HyperOS. (Update 2023/11/23) Your device is not forced to verify account qualification by Xiaomi.
  • A valid SIM card: Except for tablets that cannot use SIM cards. SIM card must not be out of service. SIM card needs to be able to access the internet. Only 2 devices per valid SIM card are allowed to be unlocked to a valid SIM card within a three-month period.
  • A valid Xiaomi account: An unbanned Xiaomi account. Each account can only unlock 1 phone in a month and 3 phones in a year.
  • According to the unlocking instructions provided by Xiaomi, it will prohibit some accounts and devices from using the unlocking tool, which is called “risk control”.

So if that’s all well and good, then let’s get started with the steps to bypass Xiaomi’s HyperOS Bootloader Unlock requirement.

Instruction Steps

  1. First off, download and extract the Bypass-1.0-fix-universal.zip .
  2. Then download the latest version of PHP from its official website .
  3. Now, launch the setup and proceed with the steps to install it [if needed].
  4. Then, enable the OpenSSL and Curl extensions in php.ini.
  5. For that, transfer the PHP folder to the C Drive and rename the folder to php.
  6. Then open the Command Prompt inside the php folder and type in the below command: php -i | findstr extension_dir
  7. It should give you the extension directory, which will be something along the following lines: C:\php\ext => C:\php\ext
  8. So go to the php > ext folder and verify you have the following two files: php_curl.dll and php_openssl.dll.
  9. If that’s all well and good, then open php.ini-production file in Notepad+ and verify if the below commands are there are not extension=php_curl.dll extension=php_openssl.dll
  10. If they are there, then simply remove the semi-colon [;] from their start. They will no longer be comments but will now be actual commands.
  11. However, if these two lines are not there [which was the case with me], then add them. Finally, save the file via Ctrl+S.
  12. Once done, rename the php.ini-production file to php.ini. You’ll get a prompt, click YES.
  13. Now type in the below two commands in the CMD window to verify if PHP is able to find these two DLL files [php_curl.dll and php_openssl.dll] php -m | findstr curl php -m | findstr openssl
  14. The output should be as follows: curl openssl
  15. Next up, download php-adb from GitHub [Code > Download ZIP]. Then extract the ZIP and get the adb.php file.
  16. Now, place the adb.php file in the php and extension folders.
  17. Then download platform-tools and place them in libraries. NOTE: Mac OS should rename adb to adb-darwin
  18. Now download the script , extract it, copy the bypass.php file, and paste it into the php folder.
  19. Then open the CMD window and type in the below command to run this script: php php.ini bypass.php
  20. Then go to Settings > About Phone and tap MIUI Version 7 times.
  21. Now, go to Settings > Additional Settings > Development Options.
  22. Then enable OEM Unlocking, USB Debugging, and USB Debugging (Security Settings).
  23. Now log in via a valid Xiaomi account and connect your device to your PC via USB cable.
  24. Wait for a few seconds, and you’ll get the message that “now you can bind your account in the Developer Options”.
  25. So go to Developer Options > Mi Unlock Status > Add Account and Device.
  26. Once done, check the script, you’ll get the message “Account bound successfully”.
  27. So you can now use the Mi Unlock Tool to carry out the unlocking process. As told before, you’ll still have to wait for 168 hours before unlocking. This script only helps you bypass the HyperOS bootloader requirements, such as using the Xiaomi Community app and applying at 12:00 AM Beijing time.
  28. During the waiting period, please use the device normally, keep the SIM card inserted, do not log out of your account or turn off Find My Phone, and do not re-bind the device until it is successfully unlocked. [The device will automatically send Heartbeat packets to the server every once in a while.]

Fix Binding Errors

Here are some of the most common binding errors and the steps to fix them. [Credit: MigmXyysd on GitHub]

An Interesting Observation

Many users have found out that it is easier to get the bootloader unlocking permission on a non-Xiaomi device. This has been tested successfully on a Samsung as well as an iQoo device. So you may try out this intriguing tweak as well and check if it works for you or not.
