How to Change the Image in Settings/About Phone
In this guide, we will show you the steps to change the image in the Settings/About Phone menu on your Android device, because why not! Well, I’m not going to write a lengthy paragraph as to why we need to get this job done because seriously, there’s none! But, how does the idea about such a topic originate? Well, a user asked me if he can has its own image in the Settings menu rather than a device’s. So I did some research and found out that it’s indeed possible. So, without further ado, let’s show you how this could be carried out.

How to Change the Image in the Settings/About Phone Menu

Before starting, please take a complete device backup. Droidwin and its members wouldn’t be held responsible in case of a thermonuclear war, your alarm doesn’t wake you up, or if anything happens to your device, and data by performing the below steps. NOTE: The below tweak has been carried out on a Samsung device and may or may not work on other devices.

Using Root
- First off, rename your desired image to DeviceImage.png.
- Next up, root your device via Magisk / KernelSU / APatch .
- Then install Solid File Manager , launch it, and give it storage access.
- Now tap on the hamburger menu, select Root, and go to the below location: /data/user_de/0/com.android.settings/files
- There will already be an image present there named DeviceImage.png.
- Go to its Properties and check out its dimensions. Then, resize your image to the same dimension.
- Once done, transfer your image to this directory. It will ask you to replace, reply YES.
- Again, select the file, go to Properties > Attributes > set permissions rw-r-r (or 0644).
- Now close the Settings app and reopen again. The new image will be there!
Using TWRP [Without Root]
- First off, rename your desired image to DeviceImage.png.
- Next up, install TWRP Recovery and boot your device to it using: adb reboot recovery
- Now go to Advanced > File Manager > and head over to: /data/user_de/0/com.android.settings/files
- There will already be an image present there named DeviceImage.png.
- Check out its dimensions. Then, resize your image to the same dimension [if needed].
- Once done, transfer your image to this directory. It will ask you to replace, reply YES.
- Now select your file, tap on chmod, type 0644, and hit Enter. This will change the permissions to rw-r-r.
- Finally, go to Reboot > System to boot to the OS. Then go to Settings and the new image will be there!
