The display went dark, various games crashed, and even the Adrenalin interface showed Microsoft’s driver in the corner instead of the AMD. It is recommended that you try out each of the below-mentioned workarounds and then see which one spells out success. So with that in mind, let’s get started.

Rollback Driver

  1. First, right-click on the Windows logo > select Device Manager.
  2. Then expand Display Adapters and right-click on AMD Radeon.
  3. Now, go to the Driver tab and click on Rollback Driver. That’s it.

Install Microsoft Basic Display Adapter

  1. Use the Windows+X and select Device Manager from the menu.
  2. Then expand Display Adapters and right-click on AMD Radeon.
  3. Now, go to the Driver tab and click on Update Driver > Browse my computer for drivers.
  4. Then select Let me pick from a list of available drivers> Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.
  5. Hit Next to install. Then restart your PC and check out the result.

Download and Install Old AMD Drivers

  1. Right-click on the Windows logo and select the Device Manager.
  2. Then, expand Display Adapters and right-click on AMD Radeon.
  3. Now go to the Driver tab and note down Driver date and version.
  4. Go to AMD Driver website, input your driver details, hit Submit.
  5. Scroll down, click on Previous Version, and download the driver.
  6. It should be of an older version and date than the one in STEP 3.

Using DDU

  1. Download the latest version of AMD Adrenalin + drivers and DDU .
  2. Then, disconnect your Ethernet or Wi-Fi in the Windows settings.
  3. Next up, launch Run via Win+R, type in “msconfig” and hit Enter.
  4. Go to “Boot”, check “Safe Boot”, and leave the option on ‘Minimal’.
  5. Now reboot to Safe Mode, run DDU, and clean all the GPU drivers.
  6. Go back to System Configuration from Step 4 and untick Safe Boot.
  7. Now restart back to Normal Mode and install the ‘AMD Adrenalin’.
  8. Finally, restart one final time, and then your task stands complete.
