How to Flash Android 15 Custom ROMs on Nothing Phone 2

The below process will wipe off all the data from your device, so take a complete device backup beforehand. STEP 1: Install Android SDK

First and foremost, you will have to install the Android SDK Platform Tools on your PC. This is the official ADB and Fastboot binary provided by Google and is the only recommended one. So download it and then extract it to any convenient location on your PC. Doing so will give you the platform-tools folder, which will be used in this guide to install various Android 15 custom ROMs on your Nothing Phone 2.

STEP 2: Enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking

Next up, you will also have to enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking on your device. The former will make your device recognizable by the PC in ADB mode. This will then allow you to boot your device to Fastboot Mode. On the other hand, OEM Unlocking is required to carry out the bootloader unlocking.

So head over to Settings > About Phone > Tap on Build Number 7 times > Go back to Settings > System > Advanced > Developer Options > Enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking.

STEP 3: Unlock Bootloader on Nothing Phone 2

STEP 5: Boot to Fastboot Mode

1. Connect your device to the PC via a USB cable. Make sure USB Debugging is enabled.
2. Then head over to the platform-tools folder, type in CMD in the address bar, and hit Enter. This will launch the Command Prompt.

There exist two different methods to flash this ROM: via the Evolution X Recovery and using the OrangeFox Recovery. While the former has always been the recommended approach, at the time of writing, the build that has been released isn’t working with the said method [Evolution X Recovery] and hence we have to opt for OrangeFox Recovery. With that said, we have still listed both of these methods below.

Via Evolution X Recovery

1. First off, flash the Evolution X recovery via the below command: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
2. Then reboot to the newly flashed recovery via the said command: fastboot reboot recovery
3. Once that’s done, do Factory Reset → Format Data/Factory Reset.
4. Then go to Apply Update → Apply from ADB to boot to Sideload.
5. Next up, type the below command to sideload the ROM ZIP file: adb sideload rom.zip
6. Once done, again do Factory Reset → Format Data/Factory Reset.
7. Finally, select Reboot System Now to boot to the newly flashed OS.

Via OrangeFox Recovery

1. Wipe the Super partition using the below command: fastboot wipe-super super_empty.img
2. Next up, flash the OrangeFox Recovery on your device.
3. Then boot your device to the OrangeFox Recovery via: adb reboot recovery
4. Now do a Format Data from the OrangeFox Recovery.

How to Flash NothingMuchROM Android 15 on Nothing Phone 2

Before starting, make sure that you are on the latest NothingOS 3.0 build.

NOTE: You need to be on the “a” slot before installation of the ROM [ check using this guide ]. If you’re on the “b” slot, then manually sideload the stock firmware again so that the “a” slot is populated with the latest firmware [do not simply change the slot to “a” as our ultimate aim is to have the latest firmware across both the slots].

STEP 1: Flash Firmware in Slot A

1. To flash the firmware on Slot A, download the Pong Fastboot Flasher script.
2. Then download the firmware but skip downloading the logical files.
3. Now transfer the script inside the firmware folder and launch it.
4. First off, it will ask for a format data, hit Y to answer Yes.
5. It will ask if you wish to flash across both slots, reply N [we only want to update Slot A because Slot B already has the latest firmware].
6. Then it will ask you to disable Android Verified Boot, type in Y.
7. Next up, when the tool asks to flash the logical partition images such as system.img, reply No by typing N.
8. The script will now automatically close and your device will remain in the FastbootD Mode.

STEP 2: Flash ROM in Slot A

1. First and foremost, extract the NothingMuch ROM ZIP file on your PC.
2. Then transfer the super.img file from there to the platform-tools folder.
3. Now flash the super.img in the Fastboot Mode via the below command: fastboot flash super super.img
4. Then flash the vbmeta file to disable the dm-verity & verification check: fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
5. Now perform a factory reset via the below command: fastboot -w
6. You may now reboot to the newly flashed OS using the below command: fastboot reboot

Install Nameless AOSP Android 15 on Nothing Phone 2

1. First off, flash the boot, vendor_boot, and recovery using the below commands: fastboot flash boot boot.img fastboot flash vendor_boot vendor_boot.img fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
2. Then boot your device to the newly flashed recovery via the below command:| fastboot reboot recovery
3. Now do a Format Data/Factory Reset. Once done, boot to FastbootD Mode.
