How to Flash Android 16 Custom ROMs on Poco F5

STEP 1: Install Android SDK

First off, you will have to install the Android SDK Platform Tools on your PC. This is the official ADB and Fastboot binary provided by Google and is the only recommended one. So download it and then extract it to any convenient location on your PC. Doing so will give you the platform-tools folder, which will be used in this guide to install custom ROMs on Poco F5.

STEP 2: Enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking

Next up, you will also have to enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking on your device. The former will make your device recognizable by the PC in ADB mode. 2. Rename the file to rom.zip and transfer it to the platform tools.

STEP 5: Boot to Fastboot Mode

1. Connect your device to the PC via a USB cable. Make sure USB Debugging is enabled.
2. Then head over to the platform-tools folder, type in CMD in the address bar, and hit Enter. This will launch the Command Prompt.

2. Now boot your device to the TWRP via the below command: fastboot reboot recovery
3. From TWRP Recovery, go to Wipe and select Format Data.

There exist two methods you can use to flash the ROM: Recovery and Fastboot. Go through both of them and then try out the one that is in sync with your requirement.

Fastboot Method

1. First off, erase the Factory Reset Protection on your device via: fastboot erase frp
2. Extract the ROM.ZIP and launch the windows_flash.script.bat file.
3. The flashing will start and will take a while.
4. Once done, your device will boot to the newly flashed OS.

To install Google Play in ColorOS, refer to the below steps:

• Turn on Google Mobile Services in Settings -> System & update -> Google settings.

Recovery Method

3. Then extract the super.img.zst from the ROM.ZIP file.
4. Now extract this super.img.zst using 7ZIP ZS and you’ll get super.img.
5. Keep this file as it will come in handy later on.
6. Download and install the TWRP Recovery on your device.
7. Then boot your device to TWRP via the below command: adb reboot recovery
8. From TWRP Recovery, go to Wipe and select Format Data.
9. Now type YES in the space provided and hit the checkmark.
10. Now transfer the ROM and super.img files to your device .
11. Then go to Install, select the ROM.ZIP file, and flash it.
12. Now go to Install, tap on Install Image, select the super.img, and flash it.
13. Once done, go to Wipe and do a Format Data once again.
14. Finally, head over to Reboot and tap on the System.
15. Your device will now reboot to the newly flashed OS.
