Here are some of the noteworthy reasons why you would need to manually flash the firmware on your Infinix device.

Unbrick Device

If your device is currently in a softbrick or bootloop state, then it’s obvious you wouldn’t be able to go to the Settings menu and grab the OTA. In such cases, manually flashing the firmware is the only way out.

Faster Updates

The OTA updates are usually rolled out in batches, meaning not everyone will get them at once. So the users who have already received it can share the firmware with the rest, who can then manually install it via the dedicated tool like SP Flash Tool.

Root Device

If you want to root your Infinix, then you’ll have to get the boot/init_boot file, which is again only possible if you manually download the firmware.

How to Flash Stock Firmware on Infinix Devices

  1. To begin with, download the latest version of SP Flash Tool . Then extract it to any convenient location on your PC.
  2. Once that is done, download the MediaTek firmware for your device. There isn’t any official site as such from where you could download this firmware.
  3. However, a Google search will be enough to bring up plenty of sites having the MTK firmware. So go ahead, download it, and then extract it on your PC.
  4. Now download and install the MediaTek USB VCOM Drivers . This is needed so that your PC is able to identify the connected device in the BROM Mode.
  5. Next, power off your device. Then, press and hold the Volume Up and Down keys together and connect the device to the PC via USB to boot it to BROM.
  6. After that, head over to the folder where you have extracted the SP Flash Tool, and double-click on the flash_tool.exe file to launch the tool on your PC.
  7. Now, click on the ‘Choose’ button next to the Scatter-loading File section. Navigate to the extracted firmware file and select the Android Scatter Text file.
  8. The file will now be loaded to the tool and all the partition information will be subsequently filled in.
  9. Now uncheck the Preloader partition and then hit the Download button to start the flashing process.
  10. The tool will now start flashing the firmware to your device and could take a couple of minutes. Once that is done, you will get the Download OK message.
  11. You may now unplug the device from the PC, close the SP Flash tool, and reboot the device (if that doesn’t happen automatically). And that’s just about it.
