How to Install crDroid ROM on Pixel 7/7/Pro

The below process will wipe off all the data from your device, so please take a backup of all the data beforehand. Droidwin and its members wouldn’t be held responsible in case of a thermonuclear war, your alarm doesn’t wake you up, or if anything happens to your device and data by performing the below steps.

STEP 1: Install Android SDK

First and foremost, you will have to install the Android SDK Platform Tools on your PC. This is the official ADB and Fastboot binary provided by Google and is the only recommended one. So download it and then extract it to any convenient location on your PC. Doing so will give you the platform-tools folder, which will be used throughout this guide.

STEP 2: Enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking

Next up, you will also have to enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking on your device. The former will make your device recognizable by the PC in ADB mode. This will then allow you to boot your device to Fastboot Mode. On the other hand, OEM Unlocking is required to carry out the bootloader unlocking.

So head over to Settings > About Phone > Tap on Build Number 7 times > Go back to Settings > System > Advanced > Developer Options > Enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking.

STEP 3: Unlock Bootloader on Pixel 7A/7/Pro

Next up, you will also have to unlock the device’s bootloader. Do keep in mind that doing so will wipe off all the data from your device and could nullify its warranty as well. STEP 4: Download crDroid for Pixel 7A/7/Pro

  1. Grab hold of the crDroid ROM for your device from below [make sure that your device has been updated to the latest firmware]: Download crDroid ROM Pixel 7A Pixel 7 Pixel 7 Pro Download crDroid Recovery Pixel 7A Pixel 7 Pixel 7 Pro
  2. Once downloaded, transfer the ROM to the platform tools folder. Also, rename it to rom.zip.
  3. Next up, download GApps [optional] and transfer it to the platform-tools folder as well.

STEP 5: Boot Pixel 7A/7/Pro to Fastboot Mode

  1. Now connect your device to the PC via a USB cable. Make sure USB Debugging is enabled.
  2. Then head over to the platform-tools folder, type in CMD in the address bar, and hit Enter. This will launch the Command Prompt.
  3. Type in the following command in the CMD window to boot your device to Fastboot Mode adb reboot bootloader
  4. To verify the Fastboot connection, type in the below command and you should get back the device ID. fastboot devices
  5. If not, then please install the Fastboot Drivers on your PC.

STEP 6: Flash crDroid on Pixel 7A/7/Pro

  1. Execute the below command to flash the crDroid Recovery [vendor_boot] fastboot flash vendor_boot vendor_boot.img
  2. Now check the current active slot. If it’s A, then ROM will be flashed in B and vice versa.
  3. After that, go to Apply update > Apply from ADB.
  4. Now type in the below command to flash the ROM file via ADB Sideload: adb sideload rom.zip
  5. Once flashed, recovery will ask if you want to switch to the opposite slot to flash Gapps and/or Magisk.
  6. Select Yes if you want to flash them and then do an ADB Sideload the desired file.
  7. Once done, again do a reboot to recovery.
  8. Finally, go to Factory Reset > Format Data/Factory Reset > Format Data.
  9. Finally, select Reboot System Now. Your device will now boot to the newly installed ROM.
