I tried sideloading it, and the installation went fine, but to my surprise, the device reverted to the stock launcher every time. So I did some debugging and finally found out the way to get past this issue. Once you do so as well, you’ll be able to install any third-party launcher of your choice. So without any further ado, let’s show you how this could be carried out.

- To begin with, unlock the bootloader and root your Echo Show .
- Then download and install the custom launcher of your choice using this guide .
- As of now, the device will go back to the stock launcher every time, no issues. Let’s fix it!
- So download and extract Android SDK Platform Tools on your PC.
- Then open Command Prompt inside that folder and type in the commands below: adb remount adb shell mv /system/priv-app/com.amazon.paladin/com.amazon.paladin.apk /system/priv-app/com.amazon.paladin/ com.amazon.paladin.bak reboot
- The aforementioned commands will disable the stock launcher and will not let it launch even on a reboot.
- From now onwards, your custom launcher will be the default one.

How to Get Back to Stock Launcher
If, for some reason, you wish to ditch the custom launcher and get back to the default one, the one that came out of the box, then just execute the below commands:
adb remount
adb shell
mv /system/priv-app/com.amazon.paladin/com.amazon.paladin.bak /system/priv-app/com.amazon.paladin/com.amazon.paladin.apk
reboot
