How to Install MIUI Camera on LineageOS

In this guide, we will show you the steps to install the MIUI Camera on the LineageOS ROM. Out of all the custom ROMs out there, my personal preference has usually been LineageOS, because it offers the cleanest, fastest, and closest to stock AOSP usage experience without any bloatware.

However, there’s just one gripe- the camera that it ships with is quite basic in nature, missing way too many features that the one from Xiaomi beholds. Just to give you an idea of the same, I have prepared a tabular data for the features that are present/absent in both the cameras. As you can see, most of the advanced [and even some basic] features are missing from the LineageOS’s camera [org.lineageos.aperture]. So what can be done to address this missing piece of puzzle? Well, there does exist a nifty workaround using which you can install the MIUI camera on your LineageOS ROM. And in this guide, we will show you how to do just that. So, without further ado, let’s get started.

How to Install MIUI Camera on LineageOS

Before starting, take a complete device backup. Droidwin and its members wouldn’t be held responsible in case of a thermonuclear war, your alarm doesn’t wake you up, or if anything happens to your device, and data by performing the below steps. NOTE : As of now, this camera is supported on Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, Xiaomi 12S, Xiaomi 12S Pro, Poco F5 Pro/Redmi K60, and Poco F5/Redmi Note 12 Turbo.

  1. To begin with, root your device via Magisk / KernelSU / APatch .
  2. Then download the latest version of MIUI Camera from here .
  3. Now flash this camera using your rooting app and hit Reboot.
  4. You could now access the MIUI Camera from the app drawer.
