How to Open System Apps when they are not shown in app drawer

In this guide, we will show you a nifty method using which you can open a system app on your Android device when it’s not shown in the app drawer. The likes of Dialer. Message, and Gallery are all system installed apps that you can easily launch from the app drawer. However, there are a few system apps that, even though being installed on your device, cannot be accessed from the front-end. This is because their traces are no where to be found.

If you head over to Settings > Apps > All Apps and checkmark Show System, then that app will be listed there, but there’s way whatsoever of accessing it. So what can be done in such cases? Well, there exist a handy method using which you can easily access such apps. And in this guide, we will shed some light on just that. So without further ado, let’s get started.

For the sake of reference, we will be opening the system Files app [yes, there exist a hidden Files app on your device!]. Follow along.

  1. To begin with, download and install the Shortcut Maker app on your device.
  2. Then launch it and go to Activities. Now select the desired app from the list.
  3. Customize it if required > tap on Create Shortcut > Add to Home Screen.
  4. Now open that shortcut and it will launch the corresponding system app.

NOTE: If you are looking to get access to this hidden File Manager app, then there’s another way out:

  1. First off, disable the Files by Google app.
  2. Now install this Files app from Play Store.
  3. Then open it and it will open the hidden Files app.
  4. You may now re-enable the Files by Google app.
