To get this job done, you need to Force Stop this app [disabling it is not an option]. In some cases, after a reboot, the app might again get active, so you might have to stop it once again. Here’s how it can be done:

  1. To begin with, go to the Settings > Apps > All Apps.
  2. Now tap on the overflow icon > select Show System.
  3. Then select Search Engine Selector app from the list.
  4. Tap on Force Stop > OK in the prompt that appears.
