Yes, it’s no typo! You can flash the unbrick firmware for your Asus ROG phones in the EDL Mode using the Mi Flash Tool. For the unaware, Mi Flash Tool is the official tool from Xiaomi that is used for flashing firmware only in the Fastboot Mode. So, a tool from a different OEM, which is made only for the Fastboot Mode, is able to flash the EDL firmware, and that too from a device of a totally different company, wasn’t something I thought I would come across! But hey, no complaints till it gets the job done! So on that note, let’s make you aware of the steps to unbrick your device by flashing the firmware in the Qualcomm HS-ISB QDLoaders 9008 mode. How to Unbrick Asus ROG Phones via EDL using Mi Flash Tool

Unbrick Steps

  1. Now that you have all the files, let’s make full use of them and unbrick your Asus device.
  2. First off, make sure you’re in the EDL Mode. For that, launch Device Manager and verify your device is shown as Qualcomm HS-ISB QDLoaders 9008 in the Ports section. If that isn’t the case, then check out this guide and fix the issues.
  3. Next, go to the MiFlash2020-3-14 folder and open XiaoMiFlash.exe
  4. Navigate to the unzipped EDL firmware folder and select it. The tool will say that the flashing script cannot be found; just click OK. It’s not an issue.
  5. Then click on “Load Device” and see the Port section; if your device is shown there with a COMx [where x is a number], it means your device is connected.
  6. Now click Flash and wait a few minutes. Once done, you’ll be notified of the same.
  7. The device should now boot to the OS. If it doesn’t boot up, then long-press the Power key to turn it on.
