In this guide, we will show you the steps to unlock the bootloader on a Chinese Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra [and some other Xiaomi devices as well]. The Chinese OEM has completely messed up the bootloader unlocking scenario, and things are even worse for China-based devices. We have shared a few workarounds for both HyperOS 1 and 2 [ HyperExploit and Avoid Quota Limit Reached , respectively]; however, they will only work on non-Chinese devices.
Fortunately, I did stumble upon a method that will help you unlock the bootloader on a Chinese Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra. And it might even work on other Xiaomi devices, if you’re able to checkmark the requirements and if your device came with MIUI out of the box. So without any further ado, let’s make you aware of the flashing steps.
How to Unlock Bootloader on Chinese Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra

The below process will wipe off all the data from your device, so take a complete device backup beforehand. Before starting, please back up your NV partition as it houses the IMEI Number.
- First off, download & install the EDL Drivers on your PC.
- Now get a tool that can flash files in EDL Mode, such as Qualcomm Flash Loader / QFIL .
- Also, get a cable [such as Hydra V2] that will help you to boot your device in EDL Mode.
- Next, grab hold of the Firehose files for your device.
- The downgrade package and the Engineering ROM are also required.
- Now download a MIUI 14 China ROM for your device
- As of now, we cannot flash the Engineer ROM. First, we have to flash the downgrade package.
- So boot your device to EDL Mode and then flash the downgrade firmware using the EDL Tool.
- Once done, your device will boot to Fastboot Mode. Do not try to boot to the OS.
- Now flash the Engineer ROM in the Fastboot Mode. Once done, the device will boot to the OS. Engineer ROM
- Reboot it to Fastboot Mode and now flash the Chinese MUIU 14 ROM.
- If Fastboot doesn’t allow you to flash MIUI, you can also use the EDL Mode for this purpose.
- Now, create a Chinese MI Account using this link . You may now easily unlock the bootloader using the Mi Unlock Tool .
- Do note that the 168-hour wait time is still there, but you can now atleast unlock the device, which was not possible earlier.
