With that said, it has left the tech enthusiasts quite disappointed, which has unfortunately become a new norm [first Xiaomi complicated the bootloader unlocking process on HyperOS and then Samsung went a step ahead and removed the OEM Unlock toggle from One UI 8 ].

While it is still behind the aforementioned OEMs, however, unlocking the bootloader is no longer the execution of a single line of command, especially if you’re in China or own a Chinese variant of this device [ColorOS]. Fortunately, the restrictions aren’t that tight for now, and the process would only take a day or two. How to Unlock Bootloader on OnePlus 15 [In-Depth Test App]

Before starting, please take a complete device backup. Droidwin and its members wouldn’t be held responsible in case of a thermonuclear war, your alarm doesn’t wake you up, or if anything happens to your device and data by performing the below steps.

For Non-China/Global Region [OxygenOS]

Fortunately, for Global users [having OxygenOS], the unlocking steps is still the same as before.
  1. Download and extract Android SDK Platform Tools on your PC.
  2. Then, enable USB Debugging & OEM Unlocking on your device.
  3. Now open Command Prompt inside platform-tools and type in: adb reboot bootloader
  4. Then type the below command and verify you get the serial ID: fastboot devices
  5. If you don’t get any ID, then please install the Fastboot Drivers .
  6. Once done, type the below command to unlock the bootloader: fastboot flashing unlock
  7. You’ll get a prompt, use the Volume keys to highlight Unlock the Bootloader, and press the Power key to confirm.
  8. The device will undergo a reset, and then the bootloader will be unlocked.
  9. That’s it. These were the steps to unlock the bootloader on a non-Chinese OnePlus 15 device. Let me now show you how the same can be done on a Chinese variant. Follow along.

For the China Region [ColorOS]

If you're currently in China or are using a Chinese-imported OnePlus 15 [i.e. havig ColorOS as the firmware], then refer to the below steps.
  1. Download the In-Depth Test/Deep Testing APK for your OnePlus 15 from below: DOWNLOAD LINK
  2. Then install the app and launch it. You might be prompted to log in/sign up to your Heytap account . Do so.
  3. Now tap on Apply Now > Continue Application > Agree to Terms and Conditions > Subkit Application. Now wait for around 24 hours atleast.
  4. After a day, relaunch the app and verify if you have been given the approval or not.
  5. If you haven’t been approved yet, then wait for a day or two and then try to reapply.
  6. Once the approval is done, you can proceed with the bootloader unlocking process.
  7. Download and extract Android SDK Platform Tools on your PC.
  8. Then, enable USB Debugging & OEM Unlocking on your device.
  9. Now open Command Prompt inside platform-tools and type in: adb reboot bootloader
  10. Then type the below command and verify you get the serial ID: fastboot devices
