How to Use Theme Pack in Pixel Devices

After years of waiting, Google has finally added the Theme Pack to Pixel Devices. You can customize your Pixel with wallpapers, icons, system sounds, and even GIFs. For now, there are three theme packs- “For Good,” “Glinda,” and “Elphaba.” Do note that these themes will only be available till January 31, 2026, and currently, it is not available in Japan [though they will be available soon]. With that said, let’s make you aware of the steps to welcome abode these themes onto your device.

How to Download Theme Pack in Pixel Devices

Just install the latest November Feature Drop, and you’ll get all the goodies, including the themes. You may install the update via the normal route- Settings > System > Software Update.

How to Apply a Theme on Pixel Devices

1. Long-press on an empty region on a home screen and select Wallpaper and Style.
2. Now select Theme pack, choose your desired theme, and it Apply at the top right.

What all will be Themed on my Pixel?

The following regions will be themed, along with some new additions as well:

• New Wallpapers
• Colors
• App Icons
• Clock
• New GIFs
• New Sounds
• Gboard

How to Install More Themes on my Pixel

As of now, there’s no theme store from which you can install new themes on your Pixel, nor is there any option to upload custom themes. It’s only one way out: wait for Google to release new theme packs. While this might sound like an infuriating move from the Silicon Valley giant, still, seeing Google take a step in this direction is commendable. Better late than never!

Which Screen Protector Works Well With Pixel 9/10 Fingerprint

I usually go for local screen protectors, which, even though costs a dime but tend to work exceptionally well. While they are somewhat more prone to scratches from keys and coins as opposed to higher-priced protectors, however, they tend to guard the display from breaking, and this is what matters the most to me.

So when I got my hands on the Pixel 9 Pro XL , I straightaway went to the shop present in my locality and got that protector applied [which costs around Rs 200/$2.25]. I always perform two tests after applying the screen protector- face unlock and fingerprint. And I did the same at that point in time as well, and both were working with the same speed as before [when there was no protector].

I then went back home and went with my usual business. Later that night, when face unlock was no longer an option, I tried to unlock my Pixel 9 Pro XL via the fingerprint, and it took ages to get the job done. I wiped my hands, the screen, added the fingerprints once again, and even enabled the Screen Protector Mode, but none of them came in handy.

So how come it worked the first time in the shop? Well, I realised it might have been my face that was unlocking the device instead of my fingerprint! Although it’s just an assumption but this seems to be the most logical one.

I did some research online and found out I’m not the only one facing this problem; numerous other users are in the same boat as mine. I went through some Reddit forums, and it was way too confusing for me. While one suggested a brand and praised it for its non-conflicting nature with the fingerprint, another one had just the reverse opinion- it completely ruined his device’s fingerprint. So that forum was not much use to me.

Which Screen Protector Works Well With the Pixel 9/10 Fingerprint?

I stumbled upon Google’s official documentation on which brand’s screen protector to use with each Pixel device. Trust me, I wasn’t even aware that such a blog even exists. The ones that are officially supported by Google will have the “Made for Google” logo on their packaging [list is given at the end of this guide]. Out of all the available brands for my Pixel 9 Pro XL, only the one from Spigen/Caseology was available here [in India].

However, they were quite costly, around Rs 1500/$17. One reason for the same is the fact that they came with two screen protectors. I don’t think anyone would buy 2 protectors at once, but here, we didn’t have a choice, and moreover, it gave the company an option to inflate the price as well. Anyways, one-time investment and that too in the display of such a costly device was a no-brainer for me.
