Local Update/Install Not Working on Rooted OnePlus: How to Fix

In this guide, we will show you an interesting method using which you can fix the issue of Local Update/Install not working on rooted OnePlus devices. I have been installing OTA updates on my rooted OnePlus the same way for ages- doing a Local Update of the OTA [not tapping on Reboot] > going to Magisk and installing OTA to Inactive Slot [again, not tapping on Reboot], and finally, going back to the Local Update page and now doing a reboot.
The device will switch to the Inactive Slot, which has the latest update installed. However, for the past week or so, a weird issue has been bugging this entire process. For starters, the OTA updates in the system menu always stated “No Connection”. Likewise, if I tried to download the update from Oxygen Updater and tried to install it via Local Updater, the latter always failed at 0.00%.

Even the ADB Sideload method didn’t work [I would have been more shocked if it worked, though!] So I tried out a few tweaks, and one of them spelled out success. Hence, I thought of documenting my findings here because if anyone else is having this issue, and Google ranks this article over its AI Overview, it might help those concerned users. So on that note, let’s get started.
Fix Local Update/Install Not Working on Rooted OnePlus

I had a slew of modules installed, so I knew one of them might be the culprit. So I turned off one module at a time and wanted to see if it fixes the issue. Guess what? The issue was indeed rectified after disabling two modules! The culprits were Play Integrity Fix and Tricky Store . So make sure to turn off these two modules and then do a Local Install; you wouldn’t face any issues this time around.
