MIUI 14 Android 13: Users Cannot Download Custom Icons

Many Xiaomi users on MIUI 14 Android 13 can no longer download custom icons. The MIUI ecosystem is known for offering a plethora of customization tweaks, with its built-in Themes app opening the doors to a slew of modifications. You could switch over a custom theme, choose any static or dynamic wallpaper of your choice, and choose from a wide variety of AOD, fonts, and icons/super icons.

Since they are made and uploaded by the users themselves, henceforth they just keep on exponentially increasing [not that we are complaining though!]. However, you might now come across a few roadblocks. According to a few Xiaomi users who have recently updated their devices to the latest MIUI 14 based on Android 13, they cannot download and install custom icons.

If the users launch the Themes app and head over to the Icons tab, they could only view the default icon packs and the ones that came with their custom themes. A similar scenario could be noticed from the Settings > Wallpaper and Customizations> Icons > Style page as well. As a result of this, it seems that the icons are now locked with the theme themselves, they are no longer present standalone.

Custom Icons Removed in Android 13 MIUI 14

While it’s still yet to be established whether it’s a permanent move from Xiaomi or just a temporary issue, but we definitely hope it’s the former. Because if this ends up being permanent, then there’s literally going to be quite a lot of bashing from left, right, and center, all of which will be totally justified. Moreover, in that case, your only bet will be to opt for a custom launcher [though you’ll have to compromise with the screen gesture] and then try out the icon of your choice.
