PDF Documents Appear Black/Inverted Colours on Sequoia [Fix]
The latest iteration of the OS build is currently plagued with a rather intriguing and infuriating issue. Numerous users have voiced their concern that the PDF documents are appearing in black and/or inverted colors on their Mac running the latest macOS Sequoia. The issue is present across both the Mac native Preview app as well as in third-party apps like PDF Expert and PDFelement.
After doing some further investigation, we found that this issue tends to impact all those apps that use the macOS PDFkit framework. Adding to it, the issue mostly relies on the Internet Archive website, so it seems macOS has problems with rendering PDFs from the said website. Fortunately, we stumbled upon a couple of handy workarounds that might help you mitigate this problem. So without any further ado, let’s check them out.

Fix PDF Documents Appear Black/Inverted Colours on Sequoia

It is recommended that you try out each of the below-mentioned workarounds and then see which one spells out success. So with that in mind, let’s get started.
FIX 1: Use Third-Party Apps
While the likes of PDF Expert and PDFelement aren’t working along the expected lines, the Adobe Acrobat Reader as well as the Foxit PDF Editor seems to be free from this issue. So you may give them a try and check out the result.
FIX 2: Use Firefox
According to the affected users, they were able to create a workable PDF version of the file by viewing it with Firefox and printing it to a PDF. However, there’s a catch. The output came out to be as much as 15 times larger in size [for instance a 2MB file came out to be 31MB!]. If that happens with you as well, then you may use PDF compressor sites like the SmallPDF to further compress the size.
That’s it. As of now, these are the only two workarounds that should help you address the issue of PDF documents appearing in black and/or inverted colors on Mac running the latest macOS Sequoia. As far as the official stance on this matter is concerned, the developer [Apple] is aware of this issue, but they haven’t given out any ETA for the rollout of a fix. As and when that happens, we will update this guide accordingly. In the meantime, the aforementioned workarounds are your best bet.
