Safari ‘This connection is not private’ error in Tahoe [Fix]

Safari This connection is not private error in Tahoe - 1

There has been an ongoing issue with Apple’s browser in the latest iteration of the OS. Numerous macOS Tahoe users have voiced their concern that when they see the “this connection is not private” message on Safari, they hit the ‘Show Details’ button, but nothing happens when they click on it. As a result of this, they cannot approve visiting the site or trusting a certificate. The issue is only with Safari, as the likes of Chrome and Firefox do allow adding the exception with ease.

For some users, even the Connection Security Details in the Safari menu is greyed out. Moreover, the issue is still there in the latest release candidate of Tahoe, version 26.2 (25C56). According to some users, the problem is even there in iOS/iPadOS 26.2. All these issues were first reported back in the days of the first beta, so it is really infuriating to see that the bug has made its way even to the OS’s stable release.

Fortunately, we now have a workaround at our disposal. The issue only tends to appear when the Safari Language is set to Dutch. When they manually override and change the language to English, this bug is no longer there. So do try out this workaround by heading over to System Settings > General > Language & Region. Then add the English language [if it’s not there] or give it the top priority if it’s already added.

That’s it. This should fix the issue of the Safari Show Details button not working in the “This connection is not private” screen on macOS Tahoe 26.2. As far as the official stance on this matter is concerned, the developers are yet to acknowledge this issue, let alone give out any ETA for the rollout of a fix. As and when any of these two things happen, we will update this guide accordingly. In the meantime, the aforementioned workaround is your best bet.
